Happy Thanksgiving, my friends! This is not November’s newsletter, but I wanted to share some extra thoughts. You’ll be receiving two posts from me this week! I hope this finds you well <3
So many unexpected things have happened this year, but not all of them were so terrible. With the ending of this year, I am finding it easy to be grateful every day. Life is not perfect, but I am very grateful for the good things in my life, and maybe even the bad. They are all helping me find my way.
I know not that all of you are religious, but I am so thankful to have religion in my life. It brings me comfort in times of anxiety or fear or great sadness. Even if it’s not religion, I hope you have something that makes you feel the same way, be it a loved one, a pet, writing, or being out in nature.
Many tragedies have occurred this year, some that we have mourned together. School shootings and gun violence, turmoil in Iran, the war in Ukraine. Bad things happen and we don’t know why, but we just have to keep being kind and hoping for the best. We have to keep praying. We have to keep speaking out for injustice.
There is so much senseless violence in the world and it makes me cry. It makes me feel powerless. It’s like eco anxiety, but about world events. I am doing the best I can and I know you are all, too.
I am thankful for my privileged life. I am thankful for food, shelter, water, and clean air. I am thankful for my education and career. I am thankful for my friends and family. I am thankful for my kind coworkers.
I am thankful that people care read my writing. I am thankful for having health insurance. I am thankful for the love of animals. I am thankful for all of the opportunities in my life.
I am thankful for my right to vote. I am thankful for my right to choose what to do with my own body. I am thankful for having good health. I am thankful for myself and for all of you, too. Thank you.
Happy thanksgiving and God bless you!
Your friend,
Michelle
